Sudbury has a lot of protected land. The Sudbury River runs along the Wayland line, Hop Brook crosses the southwest of town, much of the north is wetland, and part of the Assabet River National Wildlife Refuge lies within its borders. For a home near any of these, a pool or landscape project needs early wetland review. Mountainscapes plans the design with those limits in mind and builds everything from a full backyard to a single drainage fix or a new driveway.
Where a Sudbury lot backs onto wetland, we lay out the pool, patio and lawn to keep work clear of protected areas where possible, then soften the edges with native trees and shrubs as part of the landscape design.
Our full design-build process for new pools, from site plan and approvals to the last stone.
Concrete pools formed and sprayed on site, giving full control over shape, depth and finish.
Waterfalls, deck jets, spillover spas and lighting chosen to suit the pool and the setting.
A property-wide plan for beds, lawn, paths and lighting that can be built one phase at a time.
Screening, shade and seasonal color using plants suited to New England winters and damp soils.
Downspout lines, French drains and dry wells that keep water off patios and out of basements.
Bluestone, paver or concrete patios sized for dining and gathering near the house or pool.
Layered crushed stone driveways graded to shed water, a practical choice for longer drives.
It only takes 30 seconds.

Chris installed a beautiful gunite pool for me. My kids love it and they cherish the day it gets opened. Chris did an amazing job designing the layout. He is a true artisan. I’ve been in business for 37 years and I’ve been around countless contractors. I highly recommend Mountainscapes.
I had the need for an emergency skimmer replacement during a pool deck replacement. Mountainscapes was the only company that got back to me and came right out and fixed things up to keep my project on schedule. Chris and his team were top notch. Highly recommended.
I have engaged Chris and his team on a number of landscape projects over the years. The pricing is good, the end result gorgeous, and Chris is always a pleasure to work with.
My experience having a pool installed was a great one! The owner Chris, worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. The team was friendly and very professional. I would highly recommend them!
Working with Chris and his team from MountainScapes was truly a pleasure building our pool this past year. Chris was a huge help working with the town on permitting and approvals (our town is notoriously difficult) and in helping us make our design dreams a reality.
...Today, one year post-completion, we are thrilled with the quality of MountainScapes' work. Chris, in particular, is something of a pool artist. It was truly worth it, but as homeowners you need to be prepared to be patient!
If you are considering an inground pool or any type of hardscape to your property, I would not recommend anyone other than Mountainscapes! Responsiveness, quality, professionalism!

Can I build a pool near wetlands in Sudbury?
Possibly. Work close to wetlands, brooks and the Sudbury River is reviewed by the Sudbury Conservation Commission under the Wetlands Protection Act, and approval can come with conditions such as erosion controls or replanting. We help prepare the filing and place the pool to reduce impact. Our pool planning guide explains the early steps.
What permits does a pool in Sudbury need?
A building permit from the Town of Sudbury is required for an inground pool, and the pool area must meet the barrier and fencing rules in the Massachusetts building code. If your home uses a septic system, the pool also has to stay clear of the tank and leach field. Electrical work is done by a licensed electrician.
What does a new pool and landscape project cost in Sudbury?
Pool type, size, water features and site needs like wetland work or drainage all affect cost. Most of our full projects range from $50,000 to $150,000. Smaller jobs, such as planting or a driveway refresh, cost far less. Our article on pools and home value may also help.
Which water features suit a pool in Sudbury?
A natural stone waterfall fits well on a wooded lot, while deck jets and a spillover spa suit a cleaner, modern look. Lighting makes any of them usable at night. Our water features page covers the options side by side.
Is gravel a good option for a long Sudbury driveway?
For longer driveways, gravel is often a practical choice. It usually costs less to install than paving, lets water soak in, and can be regraded and topped up over time. A solid base and good grading keep it from rutting. Learn about gravel driveway installation.
