Working in Derry, NH

Fresh Life for Derry Pools and Yards

Renovation, new construction and site work in one place

Derry mixes older homes near downtown and in East Derry with newer neighborhoods and lake lots around Beaver Lake, and that variety shows up in the backyard. An older Derry pool may need a new liner, coping or equipment, while a lakeside property raises questions about the state shoreland rules. Mountainscapes covers both ends: we renovate existing pools, build new ones, and design the landscape and drainage around them. Tell us what bothers you most about your yard and we will start there, however small it is.

Services for Derry Homes, Old and New

Renovation-focused work for established pools and the yards around them
A crew installs a new blue pool liner in spring outside a suburban home, illustrating the best time of year to replace a pool liner in a spring vs fall guide.

Pool Renovation

A planned update for an older pool, with surfaces, coping, steps, equipment and decking tackled in a sensible order.

Two technicians replace a pool liner in a backyard pool surrounded by tools, illustrating whether you can patch a pool liner or need a full replacement.

Liner Replacement

Faded or leaking vinyl swapped for a custom-measured liner, with the floor and walls repaired underneath.

Old neglected pool with stained, cracked, and flaking plaster surface, showing clear signs that a pool needs to be resurfaced.

Pool Remodeling

Change the layout of an existing pool with a tanning ledge, new steps, fresh tile or a resurfaced shell.

Coping Repair

Cracked or loose coping stones reset or replaced before frost pushes them further out of line.

Opening and Closing

Spring startup and fall winterizing so lines, skimmers and equipment come through a Derry winter in good shape.

Landscape Renovation

Overgrown beds, tired shrubs and patchy lawn cleared out and replanted around how you use the yard today.

Retaining Walls

Block, stone or boulder walls that hold back a slope and create flat ground for a patio or play area.

Backyard needing a drainage system with pooling water, muddy soil, and a overflowing downspout next to a residential home.

Yard Drainage

French drains, dry wells and downspout lines for soggy lawns and water that collects against the foundation.

The Plan

From First Look to Final Cleanup

// Phase 1
Inspect What Exists
For a renovation we examine the pool shell, liner, coping, plumbing and equipment, and note anything in the yard that will affect the work.
// Phase 2
Options and Costs
We lay out what to fix now, what can wait, and what a full replacement would involve, with a budget for each path so you can choose.
// Phase 3
Approvals
The Derry building department handles local permits. Near Beaver Lake or other protected waters, a shoreland permit through NHDES may be needed too.
// Phase 4
Renovate and Restore
Our crew does the pool work, rebuilds the hardscape around it and replants anything disturbed, so the yard looks finished rather than patched.

It only takes 30 seconds.

Chris installed a beautiful gunite pool for me. My kids love it and they cherish the day it gets opened. Chris did an amazing job designing the layout. He is a true artisan. I’ve been in business for 37 years and I’ve been around countless contractors. I highly recommend Mountainscapes.

I had the need for an emergency skimmer replacement during a pool deck replacement. Mountainscapes was the only company that got back to me and came right out and fixed things up to keep my project on schedule. Chris and his team were top notch. Highly recommended.

Working with Chris and his team from MountainScapes was truly a pleasure building our pool this past year. Chris was a huge help working with the town on permitting and approvals (our town is notoriously difficult) and in helping us make our design dreams a reality.

...Today, one year post-completion, we are thrilled with the quality of MountainScapes' work. Chris, in particular, is something of a pool artist. It was truly worth it, but as homeowners you need to be prepared to be patient!

Our Approach

Straight Answers for Derry Pool Owners

We build pools, so we know how to fix them

Because we design and build gunite, fiberglass and vinyl liner pools, we understand what sits under the coping and behind the liner. That helps us diagnose an older Derry pool quickly and recommend a repair that lasts, rather than selling a bigger job than you need.

Honest Repair Advice

We tell you when a patch or a single repair will do, and when a pool really is due for a full renovation.

Pool and Yard Together

When the pool work wraps up, the same team can rebuild the deck, walls and planting around it.

Every Job Size

From one cracked coping stone to a full backyard rebuild, we take the work seriously and put it on the calendar properly.

Payment Options

Financing through our lending partner can make a renovation or new pool easier to plan for. Ask us how it works.

Every Service We Offer in Derry, NH

From a new pool to a single drainage fix, these are the pool, landscape and site services available to Derry homeowners. Small jobs are welcome.

Should I renovate my older pool or replace it?

It depends on the shell. If the structure is sound, a renovation with new surfaces, coping and equipment usually costs far less than a new pool. If the shell is failing or the layout no longer suits your family, building new can be the better investment. We compare both in our renovation versus new pool guide.

A full new pool with decking and landscaping usually lands somewhere between $50,000 and $150,000 for our projects, with pool type, size and site work driving most of the difference. Renovations, liner replacements and drainage repairs are smaller jobs and are priced to the work involved.

Any new inground pool in Derry needs a local building permit and must meet the state building code rules for pool barriers. Lots close to Beaver Lake or other larger ponds may also fall under the New Hampshire Shoreland Water Quality Protection Act, which NHDES administers. We check your lot early so permitting does not stall the job.

Yes, and we are glad to. We measure the pool, drain it, repair the floor and walls, and install a custom-fit liner. If your liner is fading or losing water, read how to tell when a liner needs replacing before you call, so you know what to look for.

That is the right order. Water problems get worse under new hardscape, so we sort out grading, French drains or dry wells first, then build the patio on a stable, well-drained base. Our article on signs your backyard needs drainage covers the warning signs.

Besides Derry, we work in Londonderry, Windham, Salem, Atkinson and Kingston, and further out in Nashua and northeastern Massachusetts. Get in touch if your town is missing from this list and we will let you know.

Let's make your vision a reality

From initial planning and design to engineering, permitting, and construction, we manage every stage of your pool and landscape project with precision and care.
