Your Trusted Project Partner
Mountainscapes works on backyards across the town of Merrimack: Reeds Ferry in the north, Thorntons Ferry by the Nashua line, South Merrimack and Merrimack Village in between. If your house came with a pool that now needs a new liner, new coping or a better deck, we can fix it. If the patio has sunk or the lawn turns to mud each spring, we can fix that too. And when a fresh start makes more sense, we design and build new pools as well.
A pool update is the right moment to look at what surrounds it. Swapping a cracked concrete apron for interlocking pavers, adding privacy planting along a shared property line or fixing a low spot that floods can all fit into one project and one schedule.
A planned update for an aging pool, with surfaces, coping, decking and equipment reviewed together and fixed in the right order.
Change the pool itself with new tile, a resurfaced finish, added steps, a tanning ledge or other features.
Measured, custom-fit vinyl liners for existing pools, with the floor and walls repaired first.
Spring startup and fall winterizing, including blowing out lines and setting the cover before the first hard freeze.
One-piece shells set by crane, a practical option when the backyard is compact or you want to swim sooner.
Interlocking pavers on a compacted base with edge restraint, built to stay level through New Hampshire winters.
French drains, dry wells and downspout lines for yards that hold water after heavy rain or snowmelt.
Clearing overgrown beds, regrading worn lawns and replanting so an older yard feels new again.
It only takes 30 seconds.

Chris installed a beautiful gunite pool for me. My kids love it and they cherish the day it gets opened. Chris did an amazing job designing the layout. He is a true artisan. I’ve been in business for 37 years and I’ve been around countless contractors. I highly recommend Mountainscapes.
I had the need for an emergency skimmer replacement during a pool deck replacement. Mountainscapes was the only company that got back to me and came right out and fixed things up to keep my project on schedule. Chris and his team were top notch. Highly recommended.
I have engaged Chris and his team on a number of landscape projects over the years. The pricing is good, the end result gorgeous, and Chris is always a pleasure to work with.
My experience having a pool installed was a great one! The owner Chris, worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. The team was friendly and very professional. I would highly recommend them!
Working with Chris and his team from MountainScapes was truly a pleasure building our pool this past year. Chris was a huge help working with the town on permitting and approvals (our town is notoriously difficult) and in helping us make our design dreams a reality.
...Today, one year post-completion, we are thrilled with the quality of MountainScapes' work. Chris, in particular, is something of a pool artist. It was truly worth it, but as homeowners you need to be prepared to be patient!
If you are considering an inground pool or any type of hardscape to your property, I would not recommend anyone other than Mountainscapes! Responsiveness, quality, professionalism!
Why Us
Because we build new pools from the ground up, we know what sits behind an older liner, under a tired deck and inside the equipment pad. Christopher Underwood, our founder, adds a Landscape Architecture degree and more than 20 years in the field, so Merrimack renovations are planned as a whole yard.

Do you renovate older pools in Merrimack, NH?
Yes, and we actively look for this kind of work. We replace liners, coping, tile and decking, update pumps and filters, and resurface concrete pools. If you are weighing your options, our article on renovating versus building new lays out the trade-offs.
How much will my Merrimack pool or yard project cost?
A new liner or a drainage fix is a far smaller bill than a new pool, and we price each job after seeing it. For complete projects that pair a new pool with patios and planting, most of our work falls between $50,000 and $150,000, depending on pool type, size and site conditions.
Do I need a permit for pool work in Merrimack?
A new inground pool needs a building permit from the Town of Merrimack and a barrier that meets the state building code. Wiring for pumps and lights is done by a licensed electrician. On lots close to the Merrimack or Souhegan rivers, NHDES shoreland rules can also apply. We sort this out early.
Is a fiberglass pool a good fit for a Merrimack backyard?
It can be. A fiberglass shell arrives in one piece, so the questions are whether a crane can reach the yard and whether a stock shape fits the space. If not, a vinyl liner or gunite pool gives more flexibility. Our fiberglass pool page covers the details.
Can you fix a backyard that floods after storms?
Yes. Standing water usually comes from grading that tips toward the house, downspouts emptying too close to the foundation or compacted soil. We find the cause and fix it with regrading, a French drain or a dry well. See signs your yard needs drainage.
From initial planning and design to engineering, permitting, and construction, we manage every stage of your pool and landscape project with precision and care.
