Your Trusted Project Partner
Hollis is a rural town on the Massachusetts line, with farmland, orchards, conservation land and houses set well back from the road. Mountainscapes designs and builds pools, patios and landscapes that suit that setting instead of fighting it. On an open Hollis lot we think about wind, sun and the view from the kitchen window. On a wooded one we think about clearing and access. Many homes here run on a private well and septic system, so we map both before picking a pool site.
Larger Hollis properties leave room for a pool, an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit and a lawn running out to the trees. The skill is tying them together with paths and planting, so the pieces feel connected rather than scattered across a field.
Shapes, depths, entry steps and features drawn so the pool looks at home in a country setting.
Sprayed concrete pools with fully custom shapes and finishes, a lasting choice for a long-term family home.
Grills, counters and storage beside the pool or patio, with gas and electric run by the proper trades.
Wood-burning or gas fire features set at sensible distances from the house, trees and seating.
An economical way to grow grass over large or sloped areas, with good erosion control while it fills in.
Hardy trees and shrubs for privacy, windbreaks and seasonal color along open fields and property lines.
Digging for pools, footings and utility trenches, including boulder removal and dealing with ledge when we hit it.
Water balance, cleaning and equipment checks for existing pools, whoever built them. Service calls welcome.
It only takes 30 seconds.

Chris installed a beautiful gunite pool for me. My kids love it and they cherish the day it gets opened. Chris did an amazing job designing the layout. He is a true artisan. I’ve been in business for 37 years and I’ve been around countless contractors. I highly recommend Mountainscapes.
I had the need for an emergency skimmer replacement during a pool deck replacement. Mountainscapes was the only company that got back to me and came right out and fixed things up to keep my project on schedule. Chris and his team were top notch. Highly recommended.
I have engaged Chris and his team on a number of landscape projects over the years. The pricing is good, the end result gorgeous, and Chris is always a pleasure to work with.
My experience having a pool installed was a great one! The owner Chris, worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. The team was friendly and very professional. I would highly recommend them!
Working with Chris and his team from MountainScapes was truly a pleasure building our pool this past year. Chris was a huge help working with the town on permitting and approvals (our town is notoriously difficult) and in helping us make our design dreams a reality.
...Today, one year post-completion, we are thrilled with the quality of MountainScapes' work. Chris, in particular, is something of a pool artist. It was truly worth it, but as homeowners you need to be prepared to be patient!
If you are considering an inground pool or any type of hardscape to your property, I would not recommend anyone other than Mountainscapes! Responsiveness, quality, professionalism!
The Difference
Our founder, Christopher Underwood, holds a Landscape Architecture degree and has worked in landscape construction and swimming pools for more than 20 years. On a rural Hollis property, that means the pool, terraces and plantings are arranged with the land, the views and the house in mind.

Do you build pools in Hollis, NH?
Yes. We design and build gunite, fiberglass and vinyl liner pools in Hollis and handle the clearing, excavation, hardscape and planting around them. Our custom pool design service is a good starting point if you are still deciding on shape and size.
What should I budget for a pool and outdoor living project in Hollis?
It depends on the pool type, how far power and gas have to run across the property, and how much patio, kitchen and planting you add. Most of our projects range from $50,000 to $150,000. Smaller jobs, such as pool maintenance or a planting refresh, cost a fraction of that.
What approvals does a Hollis pool need?
A building permit from the Town of Hollis, plus a compliant pool barrier under the state building code. NHDES regulates work in wetlands, and state rules set distances between septic systems, wells and new construction. We check these early so the design does not have to change later.
Will a pool affect my well or septic system?
It should not, as long as the pool is placed properly. We find the well and leach field before design, keep heavy equipment off the leach field, and plan where pool water goes when the level is lowered for winter. If records are unclear, we bring in a specialist to confirm locations.
Can you put in a large lawn on an open field?
Yes. For big areas we often suggest hydroseeding, which is economical and holds soil on slopes while the grass takes root. Close to the house and pool, sod gives an instant finish. Either way we grade and prepare the soil first, because that decides how the lawn performs.
From initial planning and design to engineering, permitting, and construction, we manage every stage of your pool and landscape project with precision and care.
