Your Trusted Project Partner
Mountainscapes designs and builds swimming pools and outdoor living spaces in Amherst, New Hampshire, from the historic center of Amherst Village to homes along the Souhegan River and up around Baboosic Lake. Plenty of properties here are big, heavily treed and crossed by old fieldstone walls, so the first decision is usually what to clear, what to keep and where a pool or terrace can sit on level, dry ground. We work that out with you, then one team builds it. A tired liner or a single sunken walkway is welcome work too.
On a large Amherst lot, the pool, a stone or paver patio, the lawn and the tree line all shape each other. Laying them out together means gas, power and drain lines are trenched once, and the woods you want to keep are fenced off and protected while machines are on site.
Gunite, fiberglass or vinyl liner pools, located where sun, slope and equipment access all work in your favor.
Selective removal of trees, brush and stumps to open room for a pool, lawn or patio while leaving a natural screen.
Block, boulder and natural stone walls that turn a sloping yard into level, usable terraces with drainage built in behind them.
Bluestone, paver and concrete patios sized for how you host, with steps down to the lawn or pool.
Whole-property plans covering planting, lawn areas, paths and lighting, built in a single season or in phases.
Low-voltage path lights, step lights and uplighting for long driveways, wooded borders and fieldstone walls.
New or rebuilt gravel driveways with a solid base and a crown that sheds rainwater instead of washing out.
Custom-fit liners for existing pools, measured and installed by the same crew that builds new ones.
It only takes 30 seconds.
Hear what our incredible customers have to say!
Chris installed a beautiful gunite pool for me. My kids love it and they cherish the day it gets opened. Chris did an amazing job designing the layout. He is a true artisan. I’ve been in business for 37 years and I’ve been around countless contractors. I highly recommend Mountainscapes.
I had the need for an emergency skimmer replacement during a pool deck replacement. Mountainscapes was the only company that got back to me and came right out and fixed things up to keep my project on schedule. Chris and his team were top notch. Highly recommended.
I have engaged Chris and his team on a number of landscape projects over the years. The pricing is good, the end result gorgeous, and Chris is always a pleasure to work with.
My experience having a pool installed was a great one! The owner Chris, worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. The team was friendly and very professional. I would highly recommend them!
Working with Chris and his team from MountainScapes was truly a pleasure building our pool this past year. Chris was a huge help working with the town on permitting and approvals (our town is notoriously difficult) and in helping us make our design dreams a reality.
...Today, one year post-completion, we are thrilled with the quality of MountainScapes' work. Chris, in particular, is something of a pool artist. It was truly worth it, but as homeowners you need to be prepared to be patient!
If you are considering an inground pool or any type of hardscape to your property, I would not recommend anyone other than Mountainscapes! Responsiveness, quality, professionalism!

Do you build pools in Amherst, New Hampshire?
Yes. We design and build gunite, fiberglass and vinyl liner pools in Amherst, NH, the Hillsborough County town, not Amherst, Massachusetts. We look after clearing, excavation, the pool and the final planting. Our inground pool installation page explains each stage of the build.
What does a pool and landscape project in Amherst cost?
Every lot is different. Tree removal, moving rock or soil and building walls on a slope all affect the number, along with the pool type and patio size. Most of our projects range from $50,000 to $150,000. Smaller work, like a liner replacement or a new front walk, costs much less and is just as welcome.
What permits does a pool in Amherst, NH need?
An inground pool needs a building permit from the Town of Amherst, and it must have a barrier that meets the state building code. Work in or next to wetlands can need approval from NHDES, and local zoning may set its own setbacks. We check these during the first site visit and help prepare the paperwork.
Can you build a pool on a heavily wooded lot?
Usually, yes. We look at which trees must come out for access, sunlight and root clearance, and which can stay as a screen. Our land clearing work removes trees, brush and stumps so the site is ready before digging starts. Fewer trees right beside the water also means fewer leaves to skim every fall.
Do you do landscaping in Amherst without a pool?
Yes. Roughly half of our work is landscape only. Here that often means a retaining wall on a sloped backyard, new planting along a wooded edge, a bluestone terrace off the back door or lighting for a long driveway. We work around old fieldstone walls rather than bulldozing them.
Which towns near Amherst do you serve?
We work in the towns that border Amherst, including Merrimack, Hollis, Bedford and Milford, and a little further out in Nashua and Londonderry. Not sure if your road is in our area? Ask us and we will tell you.
From initial planning and design to engineering, permitting, and construction, we manage every stage of your pool and landscape project with precision and care.
