Kingston is a Rockingham County town shaped by water: Great Pond, with Kingston State Park on its northeast shore, Country Pond on the Newton line and Powwow Pond toward East Kingston. Mountainscapes builds pools, patios and landscapes for Kingston homeowners, and for lots near the water we design with the state’s shoreland rules in mind from day one. Further from the ponds, we take on new pools, soggy lawns, worn liners and patios that have heaved over the winters.
Near ponds and wetlands, the ground can stay wet well into spring. We read the site before choosing a pool type, and pair the build with drainage and careful grading so runoff moves away from the pool, the house and the shoreline.
Full design-build for new pools, from site review and permits to the first swim, all managed by one team.
New liner pools with custom shapes and good value for money, a popular choice for family backyards.
Replacing cracked or loose coping in stone, precast or brick, and fixing the pool edge underneath.
Seasonal startup and winterizing that protect plumbing, liners and equipment through hard New Hampshire freezes.
Paver, natural stone and concrete pool surrounds, pitched to drain and chosen for grip and comfort underfoot.
French drains, catch basins and dry wells for yards where water pools after storms or snowmelt.
Reshaping the ground so rain runs away from foundations, pools and patios instead of toward them.
Soil preparation, fine grading and sod or seed for a healthy new lawn after construction or on a tired yard.
It only takes 30 seconds.

Chris installed a beautiful gunite pool for me. My kids love it and they cherish the day it gets opened. Chris did an amazing job designing the layout. He is a true artisan. I’ve been in business for 37 years and I’ve been around countless contractors. I highly recommend Mountainscapes.
I had the need for an emergency skimmer replacement during a pool deck replacement. Mountainscapes was the only company that got back to me and came right out and fixed things up to keep my project on schedule. Chris and his team were top notch. Highly recommended.
I have engaged Chris and his team on a number of landscape projects over the years. The pricing is good, the end result gorgeous, and Chris is always a pleasure to work with.
My experience having a pool installed was a great one! The owner Chris, worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. The team was friendly and very professional. I would highly recommend them!
Working with Chris and his team from MountainScapes was truly a pleasure building our pool this past year. Chris was a huge help working with the town on permitting and approvals (our town is notoriously difficult) and in helping us make our design dreams a reality.
...Today, one year post-completion, we are thrilled with the quality of MountainScapes' work. Chris, in particular, is something of a pool artist. It was truly worth it, but as homeowners you need to be prepared to be patient!
If you are considering an inground pool or any type of hardscape to your property, I would not recommend anyone other than Mountainscapes! Responsiveness, quality, professionalism!
Why Hire Us
Christopher Underwood started Mountainscapes with a Landscape Architecture degree and has more than 20 years in landscape construction and pools. In a pond town like Kingston, that grounding in grading and drainage matters as much as the pool itself.

Do you build pools in Kingston, NH?
Yes. We design and build vinyl liner, fiberglass and gunite pools in Kingston and handle grading, drainage, decking and planting around them. Read more about our pool construction services to see how a project runs.
What does a new pool in Kingston usually cost?
Pool type, size, deck area and any drainage or grading the lot needs all move the number. Most of our projects range from $50,000 to $150,000. Opening and closing service, coping repairs and liner replacements are priced separately and cost much less.
What rules apply to a pool near Great Pond or Country Pond?
Every inground pool needs a Kingston building permit and a barrier that meets the state building code. Within 250 feet of a larger pond, the NH Shoreland Water Quality Protection Act also applies, and NHDES may need to approve the work. Wetlands bring their own permit. We check all of this up front.
Can you build a pool where the groundwater is high?
Often, yes, with the right planning. We look at soil and seasonal water levels, may add drainage around the pool, and take care when draining or lowering water so the shell or liner is not pushed up by water underneath. Our guide on planning an inground pool has more.
Do you open and close existing pools in Kingston?
Yes. We handle spring openings and fall closings, including blowing out lines, adding freeze protection and fitting covers. It is a good time to spot a failing liner or loose coping too. See our pool opening and closing page for what is included.
From initial planning and design to engineering, permitting, and construction, we manage every stage of your pool and landscape project with precision and care.
